AbstractTo optimize the cathodic protection (CP) system for one offshore platform jacket, the relationship curves between the protective current density and potential were obtained using laboratory and real-world experiments. Based on calculations for traditional anodes, Al-Mg composite anodes, and special-shape anodes, the study reduced the total required weight of anodes by about one third. The numerical simulation was used to optimize the position of each anode to provide uniform potential distribution. The monitoring experiments showed that the jacket achieved good CP.
